- <p> DIED. Freddie Bartholomew, 69, curly-haired Dublin-born child
- actor of 1930s Hollywood movies; of a lung ailment; in
- Sarasota, Fla. While visiting the U.S. with his aunt,
- Bartholomew was offered the title role in the 1935 film David
- Copperfield, which made him an overnight star. Roles in such
- classics as Little Lord Fauntleroy (1936) and Captains
- Courageous (1937) followed, but by the early '40s his acting
- career had begun to decline, and after a stint as a daytime TV
- show host he eventually became an advertising executive.
