  14. <p>     DIED. Freddie Bartholomew, 69, curly-haired Dublin-born child
  15. actor of 1930s Hollywood movies; of a lung ailment; in
  16. Sarasota, Fla. While visiting the U.S. with his aunt,
  17. Bartholomew was offered the title role in the 1935 film David
  18. Copperfield, which made him an overnight star. Roles in such
  19. classics as Little Lord Fauntleroy (1936) and Captains
  20. Courageous (1937) followed, but by the early '40s his acting
  21. career had begun to decline, and after a stint as a daytime TV
  22. show host he eventually became an advertising executive.
